Barsana's Latthmar holi As the name suggests, this Holi is played with sticks. and is famous all over the world along with India. Holi is a very prominent festival of colours in Hinduism that symbolizes the victory of good over evil. now a day holi is not only played in india bt other country also.
Though this festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India, but this festival of Holi is celebrated in a very peculiar way in the towns of Nandgaon(krishna's village) and Barsana(radha's village ) in Mathura (Uttar Pradesh).

In Barsana, Lathmar Holi is celebrated with great pomp on the Navami of Falgun month (hindu calender). After worshiping many temples on this special occasion, the men of Nandgaon go to play Barsana Holi and Barsana women come to play in Nandgaon for Holi.
The Latthmar Holi in Barsana lasts for a week, with men and women engaging in colourful folk songs, dances and of course Latthmar Khel.
Men from Barsana from Nandgaon sing and provoke women to sing. Women act as gopis and lathi-punish men to the tune of fun.

Unfortunate men who eat sticks at the hands from women of Barsana have to wear women's clothes and dance in public. these all are they did in fun.

In this Latthmar Holi, men wears a protective gear called dhal to avoid getting hurt. In this Latthmar Holi, the color increases the enthusiasm of all the people and people who participate in this game remember Shri Krishna and Radha while speaking ‘Shri Krishna’ and ‘Shri Radhe’.

The next day, the women of Barsana come to Nandgaon and the celebration continues. To make the festival of Holi more special, a drink called 'Chulai' made of milk and some herbs is also drunk.
According to the legend, it is said that Lord Krishna of Nandgaon visited the city of Radha in Barsana during Holi. Lord Krishna was also known for his friendship with the 'Gopis', and he coloured Radha's face on this day. Then Radha ji's friend and the women had tied Lord Krishna and fired him from Barsana by hitting bass and poles on him.
According to this legend, every year on the occasion of Holi, Lathmar Holi is celebrated as an entertainment for this event of the life of Lord Krishna. Every year, the men of Nandgaon go to Barsana town and the women there take them out playing with sticks and colours in the same way.

On this holy festival, the idol of KRISHNA is brought by the devotees dressed in white to play Holi. After this people get lost in this game of water and colours and dance with music.
